Introducing CCP-volumeEM
A new Collaborative Computational Project, CCP-volumeEM, has been established to support the growing field of volume electron microscopy (vEM). This set of imaging techniques produces very large and information-rich datasets, offering unique insights into the structure and organisation of biological systems. However, the scale and complexity of these datasets create significant computational challenges, from data management through to analysis and interpretation.
Researchers across biology, microscopy, and computation have recognised the need for coordinated approaches to address common problems in data processing and workflow development. CCP-volumeEM aims to formalise these collaborative efforts, providing a framework to share expertise, identify priorities, and establish best practice across the community.
Planned activities will include engagement with researchers at all levels, technical scoping studies, and training programmes to develop skills in computational methods relevant to vEM. Through these activities, CCP-volumeEM aims to improve access to reliable, scalable computational approaches.
We invite you to contribute to CCP-volumeEM. Join our mailing list, contribute to discussions, or attend our events and training. By participating, members can help shape the project’s direction while benefiting from shared tools, expertise, and opportunities across the community.
